Palau in 2017 is making a major financial contribution in the amount of $50,000 to Xavier High School, the premier region located in Chuuk, FSM. The school opened in 1952 and graduated its first four graduates in 1956, all Palauans-Anthony Polloi, Raymond Ulechong, Lazarus Salii, and Andres Ucherbelau, the only one who has survived until today.
The $50,000 Palau government check will be handed over to the school officials by speaker Sabino Anastacio, a member of the class of 1973, on friday, June 9, 2017 at the 2017 graduation exercises on Mabuchi Hill in Tunnuk Village, Mwen (Meon) Island, and the capital of Chuuk State. The money was appropriated by the Palau Congress in the current 2017 fiscal year budget. Though Palau government makes annual contributions to private and religious schools in Palau every year, this will be the first contribution to Xavier. Throughout the years, it was the Xavier alumni and supporters who do fund raising for the school. Last year, they raised $21,000 for the school.

Included in the delegation from Palau to the graduation are Ngeremlengui Delegate and House majority whip Swenny Ongidobel, Education and Youth Affairs Chairwoman Dilmai Saiske (Ngarchelong), and Senator Uduch Senior who represents the senate but is also a parent as her son is graduating. Other parents and relatives in the delegation are Jerome Senior, Fred and Allison Sengebau, Ngirakidel Joe Giramur, Dr. Angela Marcil, Linda Ngiralmau and Aurea Kanai.
The school has produced most pre and post independence Micronesian leaders not only from Palau but also Marshall and the rest of the Federated states of Micronesia. Three of Palau's presidents attended Xavier High School including Haruo Remeliik, Lazarus Salii and Tommy Remengesau as well as three former Senate Presidents and four former House Speakers.
